How did Chitra Production come to life, and what vision did you start with?
Chitra Production began as a personal vision—to build a creative, high-quality photography brand that would be recognized in the architecture and interior design industry. Originally launched as a partnership, I eventually took over full ownership and now run it independently. From day one, my mission has been to grow Chitra Production into a reputed name, delivering visually compelling work tailored to every client’s unique style and needs.

Can you share a project that particularly challenged your creativity—and how you overcame it?
Every project brings its own set of challenges, but shoots on remote sites or in unpredictable weather really test our adaptability. There have been times when we’ve had to cancel due to client-side delays or difficult environmental conditions. But those moments push us to think creatively on the spot. Overcoming such challenges—by staying flexible and focusing on solutions—always leads to some of the most exciting and satisfying results.
-
What equipment and techniques do you rely on most when shooting interiors?
We use a range of professional tools based on the specific project—high-end mirrorless cameras, versatile lenses like the 16–35mm GM, gimbals, and drones for aerial shots. Our approach isn’t tied to a single technique; instead, we adapt to the site and its natural aesthetics. It’s about letting creativity guide the process, using composition, light, and detail to bring out the character of the space.
-
How do you deal with difficult lighting conditions, especially in spaces with mixed lighting?
Whenever possible, we work with natural light—it offers the most authentic and beautiful results. But in spaces with artificial or mixed lighting, we plan the shoot carefully and rely on expert editing in post-production to balance tones and enhance the final image. It’s all about capturing the best possible shot on-site and then refining it to perfection afterward.
-
How do you photograph elements like tiles, baths, and kitchens to make them stand out without overpowering the rest of the space?
We treat every element—whether it’s tiles, furniture, or kitchens—as part of a cohesive whole. When a particular brand or feature needs to stand out, we use composition and angles to subtly highlight it without distracting from the space’s overall harmony. The goal is always to celebrate design and material while keeping everything visually balanced and natural.
To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it?
-
Have you noticed any evolving trends in architecture and interior design that influence your work?
Absolutely. Designers and architects are constantly evolving, experimenting with materials, layouts, and technologies. As their work becomes more refined and expressive, it challenges us to evolve our photography as well. Their creativity inspires ours—and when they push boundaries, we do too.
-
What are some of the most challenging aspects of architectural photography?
For me, the work itself isn’t challenging—because I genuinely enjoy every part of it. But post-production can sometimes be demanding, especially when it comes to color correction, balancing light, and preserving true-to-life textures. Still, I see every challenge as an opportunity to improve and deliver even better results.
-
What advice would you give to designers and architects preparing a space for a photo shoot?
Preparation makes a huge difference. The space should be fully cleaned, styled, and organized before we arrive. We often rely on very specific lighting—especially during golden hours—so any delays in setup can mean missing the perfect shot. A well-prepared site helps us use time efficiently and capture the space in its best possible light.
-
What makes Chitra Production unique in the architectural and interior photography space?
Chitra Production stands out because we don’t just follow instructions—we collaborate. We understand the client’s vision, offer creative suggestions, help with on-site styling, and focus on making each photo feel natural and accessible. Our aim is to capture not just what the space looks like, but how it feels to be there.
-
Can you share a memorable moment or feedback that reaffirmed your mission at Chitra Production?
Honestly, every project holds meaning for me. I’ve been fortunate to receive positive feedback consistently, and that ongoing appreciation motivates me to keep evolving. There’s no single moment—but every satisfied client and every completed project strengthens my belief in what we’re building through Chitra Production.
